God reveals His complete authority over all of creation. What God reveals we are to RECEIVE. Where we are not receiving and surrendering to God's authority we need to REPENT with the assurance that God forgives our sins. God's promises lead us to RELY on Him. Because God empowers us we can REPACK our lives removing idolatry, lust, greed, injustice, self-righteousness and PACKING with allegiance to the Triune God alone, love, generosity, just humility, and Christ's Righteousness. This empowers us to reach out and bear one another's burdens.

To seek the Lord means that we respond to God's actions. God REVEALS, we RECEIVE what He tells us. God has FORGIVEN us, we REPENT. God has given us PROMISES to live by, we RELY or REST in His promises. God gives us ABUNDANT LIFE, we REPACK our baggage taking out the dirty laundry of sin and death and putting in the life of Christ. God REACHED OUT to us, we REACH OUT to those who know Him in Christ and those who do not. This is what it means to Seek The Lord.

From the Old Testament character, Joseph, we learn how to forgive even those who have hurt us as deeply as Joseph's brothers had hurt him. Forgiveness is God's grace gift to us that empowers us to live in the freedom of forgiving as we have been forgiven. To withhold forgiveness puts stress on our bodies, our minds and our spirit. Jesus calls us to live in His freedom and life.

The Acts reading talks about 120 people being on 'one accord in prayer". It is hard for a few people to be of "one accord" let alone 120. Here is how God's miracle happened: They focused on God; Whatever God Showed them they followed; They believed God would show them. This is a key to the church of today working in "One Accord in Prayer".

The reading from Acts speaks of Paul reading the Athenian culture so that he would better understand how God was at work to restore the people of Athens. John tells us how to rely on the Holy Spirit to restore our culture. Peter tells us that restoration of us involved Christ's sacrifice and that we need to prepare for dealing with suffering as Christ did for us.

The idillic community of Acts 2:42ff soon gets attacked by the enemy who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Partiality and prejudice entered through the sin nature. Stephen and others were chosen to deal with the problem as spiritual leaders. Stephen follows Christ and becomes more like Him praying for the forgiveness of those who stoned him to death. This is how you and I live out Christ's mission today. We become more and more like Christ through the Holy Spirit working through Word and Sacrament in our lives, showing Jesus to be the Way,the Truth, the Life.

By grace, God created a covenant community beginning with Abraham and continuing in the Christian Church. This covenant community is to follow the voice of the Good Shepherd as He, Jesus Christ, leads us to the abundant life while protecting us from the "thief" who only steals, kills, and destroys. Listen daily to God's Word and learn the voice of the Good Shepherd.

One of the very first stories in the Bible is Adam and Eve falling to temptation and rebelling against God, by their choice becoming enemies with God. What does God do? What we know is that God made a covering for them and forgave them. As I thought about this, I see our Father weeping as He had to kill one of His creation to save another mankind. This is our God and He story rewrites our stories.
